INDIVIDUALIZED TUTORING OPTIONS
My goal is for children to understand their learning styles, their strengths and weaknesses, and to foster a love of learning. My tutoring methods are custom tailored to your child’s needs.
I can provide intervention using materials and programs, such as: Thinking Maps, Write from the Beginning and Beyond, Language!, comprehension skills and strategies, math strategies, organization and time management skills, Brain Gym and Lindamood Bell’s Visualize and Verbalize, Seeing Stars, and LiPs.
If preferred, I can tutor by teaching various skills and strategies while supporting your child in completing their homework assigned from their school.
Using manipulative makes learning hands-on, concrete and fun!
A brace map allows a child to see the parts that make up a whole.

TUTORING LOCATION
Most tutoring sessions take place at my home in Mission Viejo. However, a parent may request that a tutoring session take place at their home, a public venue, such as a library, school, coffee shop, or bookstore with other people present. I tutor children in Irvine, Foothill Ranch, Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto De Caza, Dove Canyon, El Toro, Laguna Hills, Aliso Viejo, Ladera Ranch, Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel, San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point, and San Clemente.
Any and all tutoring sessions that occur at a private residence must take place in an open room, such as a family room, living room, or kitchen only. No closed door tutoring is permitted under any circumstances. This policy applies regardless of the child’s age or gender.
HOURLY RATE, PAYMENT & CANCELLATION POLICY
Tutoring hourly rate: $60 at my home or traveling within approximately 10 miles of Mission Viejo, CA 92692
Tutoring payments shall be made no later than immediately upon completion of each tutoring session. Payment may also be made in advance. Payment may be accepted in the form of cash or check made payable to Deborah Bown.
The Four Recommended Core Assessments are provided for a combined fee of $150, which includes my time for preparation of test materials, two hours for child assessement, the hours for creating the two summary forms and a post-assessment meeting that is scheduled at a convenient time to review the assessment summary forms and discuss details and next steps for tutoring. Payment for the assessment can be made entirely upfront or in two parts, whichever you prefer. If made in two parts, $100 is payable on the day of assessment and $50 after reviewing the summary forms.
The Three Optional Assessments are provided for a fee of $25 each (Spelling, Writing, Math)
The Test Record Analyses is also provided for a fee of $25
The parent may cancel a session up to one (1) hour before the scheduled time for reasons of a family emergency or sickness and receive a refund or apply any pre‐payment to a future session. Sessions not attended for any other reason by the child without giving 24 hours prior notice to me shall be charged at the half rate. Two or more same-day cancelations in the same month will then be charged full rate. If I cancel a session for any reason and at any time prior to the start of the session, I agree to refund any pre‐payment for that session or apply pre-payment to a future session that is agreed upon.
REFERRALS
Referrals are one of the greatest compliments.
Any parent/child who refers another parent/child and the referred party attends three tutoring sessions, you will receive $5 off each of your next six (6) tutoring sessions.
Please note when referring that pricing can vary based on session location and services rendered.
